2008 - Named Opening Day starting pitcher for the 4th time in his career.
2007 - From Aug. 17-end of season 2007 (spanning his last 9 starts), Barry ranked 5th in the National League with a 3.10 ERA and 2nd with a .200 opponents batting avg. (behind only Cy Young winner Jake Peavy who had a .190 mark).
- Received at least 3 runs of support in only 15 of his 33 starts (45.5%). In those 15 starts, he went 10-2 with a 3.30 ERA.
- Made 33 starts and is 1 of only 8 Major League pitchers to reach the 30-start plateau each of the last 7 years (2001-07).
2006
Led the A's to their first American League Championship Series since 1992. In a classic match-up against fellow Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana in Game One of the 2006 Division Series, Barry tossed eight innings of four-hit, one-run ball as Oakland took the opener in Minnesota; the A’s went on to sweep the Division Series.....His 16 wins were his most since 2002 (23-5, 2.75), when he won the AL Cy Young Award....Barry’s 102 wins for the A’s rank fourth in Oakland history, behind only Hall of Famer Jim “Catfish” Hunter (131) and fellow A’s aces Vida Blue (124) and Dave Stewart (119). Zito also ranks fourth in Oakland history in strikeouts (1,096) and games started (222)....He is one of four pitchers in Oakland history to win 100 games. From 2001-2006, Barry’s 95 wins are fourth most in Major League Baseball...In the five seasons from 2002-2006, Barry has compiled the fourth most wins (78) among all pitchers in baseball....Barry’s 3.55 career ERA ranks 12th among all active pitchers with at least 1,000 innings pitched and is the fourth best mark among left-handers...Named to his 3rd All Star Game appearance.
2005
He went 6-0 with a 2.51 ERA and .200 opponents batting in six starts in July to earn American League Pitcher of the Month honors. it was the third time he has won the award (August, 2001 and September, 2001) led the Majors in wins in July, topped the American League in ERA and ranked second in the AL in opponents batting...Had an eight-game winning streak, the fourth longest winning streak of his career… in that time he went 8-0 with a 2.33 ERA (58.0 ip, 40 h, 15 r, 15 er, 17 bb, 40 so) and .199 (40 for 201) opponents batting average after opening the season by going 3-8 with a 4.41 ERA and .230 opponents batting average over his first 17 starts.
2004
Led the A’s with 34 games started…Led the A’s in starts in each of the last four seasons and started 139 games over the last four years which was the most in the majors (Greg Maddux, 137)…also ranked sixth in the majors in innings pitched since 2001 (888.1)… tied for seventh in wins (65) and 10th in strikeouts (696)…had 72 career wins which ranked ninth on the Oakland career win list…his .643 (72-40) winning percentage was fourth best in Oakland history and he ranked sixth with 774 strikeouts...was 4-7 with a 4.62 ERA (57 er in 111.0 ip) in 18 starts before the All-Star Break and 7-4 with a 4.32 ERA (49 er in 102.0 ip) in 16 starts after the break… 29-22 with a 3.95 ERA (210 er in 478.2 ip) in 76 career starts before the All-Star Break and 43-18 with a 2.90 ERA (162 er in 502.1 ip) in 77 career starts after the break… ranked second in the majors in post-break wins since 2000 and was fifth in ERA...hadn’t allowed a grand slam in his career...
2003
Named to his second consecutive American League All-Star team but finished with just a 14-12 record despite a 3.30 ERA which ranked seventh in the AL… allowed a .219 opponents batting average which was second lowest in the A.L. but had the eighth lowest run support in the league (4.62)… tied for fourth in the A.L. with a career high four complete games but he lost each of the last three games in which he went the distance… was 1-3 with a 1.64 ERA (6 er in 33.0 ip) in his four complete games in 2003 and is 5-4 with a 1.29 ERA (11 er in 77.0 ip) and .159 (42 for 264) opponents batting average in his nine career complete games…had the third lowest opponent’s slugging percentage (.324) and seventh lowest opponents on-base percentage (.295) in the league
2002
Named the A.L. Cy Young Award winner, the most coveted award for a pitcher. Also named: Player’s Choice American League Outstanding Pitcher; Sporting News A.L Pitcher of the Year; Major League Baseball Alumni Association’s A.L. Pitcher of the Year; Baseball Weekly’s A.L. Pitcher of the Year and NLBM Satchel Paige Legacy Award A.L.’s Pitcher of the Year… set his career mark with 23 wins was tops in the American League (23 - 5)… finished first in games started, third in ERA (2.75), tied for third in strikeouts (182). .. named to his first American League All Star Team… went 13-1 with a 3.01 ERA in 17 starting assignments following an A’s loss… struck out a career high tying 11 in the A’s 8-3 win at Tampa Bay, his eighth career game of 10 or more strikeouts… set a new Oakland record with a 16-game home winning streak from June 18, 2001 to July 18, 2002…career winning percentage of .734 (47-17) was the best in big-league history among pitchers with at least 50 decisions and is tops in Oakland franchise history.. his 3.04 career ERA was the ninth lowest in Oakland history
2001
Finished the season 17-8 with a 3.49 ERA and 205 strikeouts in 214 innings… went 11-1 with a 1.32 ERA over his final 13 starts, including a nine-game winning streak… after striking out 205, he joined Vida Blue, Lefty Grove, Rube Waddell, and Eddie Plank as the only left-handed pitchers in A’s franchise history to record 200 or more strikeouts… allowed just two hits in eight innings in Game 3 of the ALDS against the New York Yankees… named American League pitcher of the month for August and September
2000
Completed final two months of season going 5-1 with a 1.73 ERA in September… made 14 starts, going 7-4, with a 2.72 ERA and 78 strikeouts, in 92.2 innings… hitters hit a cumulative.195 against him… defeated Roger Clemens 11-1 in Game 4 of the ALDS with the A’s trailing the Yankees in the series 2-1 and facing elimination… won his major league debut against the Anaheim Angels

- A humanitarian, Barry was tabbed Baseball's #1 "Good Guy" in 2006 by The Sporting News...received the Dave Stewart Community Service Award...has been finalist for both MLB's Roberto Clemente Award and Marvin Miller Man of Year Award, both of which recognize excellence in community service...founded "Strikeouts for Troops" organization in 2005 (www.strikeoutsfortroops.org), to help provide support and comforts of home to wounded United States soldiers and their families...is currently joined by nearly 50 fellow professional baseball players in the ever growing program, which has raised close to one million dollars to date.
