Founded by Barry Zito in April 2005, the Strikeouts For Troops roster is home to some of the biggest names in baseball - the names that adorn the sports pages of the cities they represent on a daily basis. These players have pledged money to Strikeouts For Troops to help our injured American Soldier and their family.

TThe 2010 season will be the 5th year for Strikeouts For Troops and one that continues to build on the success of previous years. Strikeouts for Troops is a national non profit organization dedicated to raising money to help our wounded veterans that are being treated at military hospitals nationwide including Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC, National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD, Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, TX, Naval Medical Center, San Diego, CA.

Contributions to the Strikeouts For Troops fund has kept loved ones near during the most difficult of times, provided individual grants to help with immediate needs, paid for air flights and lodging, purchased adaptive equipment for an easy transitions at home, helped to fund the Gold Star Family Support Center at Fort Hood, provides backpacks filled with toiletries and other necessities to those who arrive at the hospital with often just the clothes on their back, support morale building events nationwide, purchased holiday gifts for military children, provided Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, supplied telephone and gift cards, and has even paid for baby sitting so families can stay close.

This effort is funded by contributions to the Strikeouts For Troops Fund, a 501 (c) 3 donor advised fund housed at The Community Foundation For the National Capital Region.
